Crumbs from the Master
"Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David!...
Lord help me!...
Lord, even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their master's table."
Lord, even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their master's table."
~ a Canaanite mother's plea to Jesus
(Matthew 15:22,25,27)
A real, true beggar will stay,
even if only for a crumb
from her Master's table.

The woman didn't petition the disciples,
she begged the Savior.
The object of her faith
did not lie in the followers of Christ,
but in Christ Himself.
The heathen woman had confidence,
not in those who served the Lord (who told Him to 'send her away'),
but in the Lord Himself.
The desperate woman in the power & ability & mercy of the Master.
This dear mother trusted in Jesus for a miracle.
She was glad to beg for a 'crumb'.

She was glad to beg for a 'crumb'.
And the Savior complied, saying:
"O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire."
May we be like this desperately needy mother, happy & content as a "little dog" to beg for a crumb from our Master's table. May our need for Christ be desperate & our faith in the goodness, mercy & grace of Jesus be great.
