Post Abortion Support: Menace to Society?

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men,
after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Colossians 2:8
Wesley's Notes

Through philosophy and empty deceit - That is, through the empty deceit of philosophy blended with Christianity. This the apostle condemns, Because it was empty and deceitful, promising happiness, but giving none. Because it was grounded, not on solid reason, but the traditions of men, Zeno, Epicurus, and the rest. And, Because it was so shallow and superficial, not advancing beyond the knowledge of sensible things; no, not beyond the first rudiments of them.

Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary

"Their" boasted higher "philosophy" is but human tradition, and a cleaving to the carnal and worldly, and not to Christ.
Though acknowledging Christ nominally, in spirit they by their doctrine deny Him.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary

There is a philosophy which rightly exercises our reasonable faculties; a study of the works of God, which leads us to the knowledge of God, and confirms our faith in Him. But there is a philosophy which is vain and deceitful; and while it pleases men's fancies, hinders their faith:

Friends,
Many Christians wonder why I am so adamantly in opposition to 'post-abortion support' & why I do not refer aborting moms for post-abortion counseling. (See http://sanctuaryministries.blogspot.com/2006/09/why-post-abortion-support-is.html)

In researching abortion online today I came across a chillingly evil website. As I read the woman-centered advice & counseling presented by this ungodly woman, I found it eerily similar to the 'counsel' & information on purportedly 'Christian' pro-life websites & found in their ministry materials. Please take a few minutes to read the counsel of a professing witch provides to women regarding PASS (Post-abortion syndrome) found at http://www.moondragon.org/obgyn/abortion/prostaglandin.html Moondragon Birthing Services & Dragon's Lair Pagan Parlor in Salem (aka Witch City), Massachusetts. The midwife is a practicing WITCH & states "I am proud to be a member of The B*I*T*C*H webring" Her home webpage features the following 'blessing':
Web Site Blessing
May the powers of The One,
The source of all creation;
May the Goddess, The Lady of the Moon;
And the God, Horned Hunter of the Sun;
May the Rulers of the Elemental Realms, Earth, Air, Fire and Water;
May the Powers of the Stars above and the Earth below,
Bless this web site, and this time, and I who am with You.
I ask for you to protect these pages,
And that no harm to those who visit here.
So mote it be.

Now, please read the following that was found on this practicing witch's website regarding post abortion syndrome & after you have read it, ask yourself: Does the following pagan information about post-abortive women & healing after abortion sound familiar to you?

STAGE 6 - BEGINNING RESOLUTION STAGE

The beginning resolution stage deals with dealing with what happened and dealing with choices made. At this stage, the woman has realized that she needs help resolving her feelings about the abortion, and has realized that her abortion has been causing problems for her. She now seeks out either a professional counselor, a psychiatrist or a woman's post-abortion support program. Sadness, fear, panic, and many of her PAS/PASS symptoms will still be with her, but hope may be dawning that she can finally find a way to deal with all this.

STAGE 7 - FORGIVENESS STAGE

The forgiveness stage is finding out how to forgive yourself, how to forgive the people you are angry at, naming and asking your baby for forgiveness. As the woman begins therapy, or begins a post-abortion support group, she begins to deal with all her feelings and issues about the abortion. She examines what happened to her, how it affected her life, and works on finding forgiveness for herself and the others involved. Anxiety may return at this stage. PAS/PASS symptoms may still be occurring. The longer she has waited from procedure date to officially seeking help, the harder recovery can be. There can be a period of wanting to "withdraw" from all of it, and just try to go back to the way things were, and try to forget everything about the abortion. Healing, and all the things we must do and examine can be overwhelming, and retreat seems the better choice. Sometimes women do take "escape breaks" from healing. But usually Intrusion and PAS/PASS symptoms start again, and then they will return to the emotionally difficult task of healing.

STAGE 8 - BEGINNING PEACE

The beginning peace stage is starting to feel resolved with your personal feelings and losses, getting through the majority of the grief stage. As woman continue with their healing efforts, a light begins to break through the clouds. She starts to actually feel better, some of the grief, guilt and depression starts to lift. She begins to feel better about herself, and her role in the abortion. She begins to feel peace with the situation. The loss of the potential baby is still painful, and upsetting, but it is not as devastating as it was before. Seeing pregnant women does not evoke the same anger and jealousy that it did before. Her anger towards others starts to lessen. She can begin to see a future, and reasons for living, and she can see a definite lessening of her PAS/PASS symptoms and triggers.

STAGE 9 - FULL PEACE

At this stage, women have totally forgiven themselves, the man involved and anyone else who they felt contributed to their abortion. They feel at peace with the loss of their potential child. They are able to listen to and discuss abortion issues without emotion taking over. Their PAS/PASS symptoms are gone, or are very mild. Their response to triggers is mild. They feel at peace with themselves, at peace about the abortion in general, and are functioning normally in their lives again. In any of the 9 stages, women can have a strengthening of their views about abortion, and can become strongly pro-choice, or strongly pro-life. Some women switch their view about abortion, after they have one themselves. Counselors have talked with women who were pro-life before their abortion, and became pro-choice after, and vice versa. During the more difficult stages, women can become very vocal about their particular preference in this area. Once a woman gets to Stage 9, however, if she has strong views about abortion, she discusses them in more gentle and subtle ways.

NOTE: This pro-abortion website even recommends: http://www.afterabortion.com/ (a pro-life/supposedly Christian-based ministry!) which shockingly states (emphasis & red-letter highlight are mine):
How you feel after an abortion should not be a 'political' or 'religious' issue - if you have a need for support, or emotional or physical problems, they should be treated just like the issues with any other medical procedure.

How sad & how tragic & how utterly shameful. Abortion is likened to 'any other medical procedure'? That is an outright lie! Abortion is overwhelmingly an unneccessary, elective, volitional act of violence against an innocent person. Abortion is trangression of God's Law. Abortion is sin! Although I have no doubt that many of those who subscribe to the humanistic/religious counseling methods MEAN well, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. May the Christian ministries who seek to do good put away their compromising message & pick up the Word of God, & the Law of God instead of the vanity of humanistic/woman-centered material that they are now using. John Newton (who wrote Amazing Grace) wisely noted:

"Ignorance of the nature and design of the Law is at the bottom of most religious mistakes."

Charles Spurgeon (referred to as the prince of preachers) said:

"The Law cuts into the core of the evil, it reveals the seat of the malady, and informs us that the leprosy lies deep within." & "They must be slain by the law before they can be made alive by the gospel."

The remarkable evangelist George Whitfield explained:
"First, then, before you can speak peace to your hearts, you must be made to see, made to feel, made to weep over, made to bewail, your actual transgressions against the Law of God."

Without realizing it, these well-meaning counselors are creating more & more post-abortive women who, when we meet them at the abortion clinic, are inoculated against the true gospel, which reveals that it is their sin nature (their deceitful heart) which is the heart of the matter. In the majority of cases for aborting women it is NOT their circumstances which are most to blame for the death of their infant, it is their own heart, which is desperately wicked & worships self & others. Abortion is willful violation of God's moral Law, which the Bibles declares is known to them through their conscience, having been impressed upon it by God Himself, leaving her without excuse for her sin of murdering her baby. Please consider reading the powerful & convicting book by Dr E.S. Williams which asks the important question in the title: What is going on in Christian Crisis Pregnancy Counseling? Another good resource for instruction in biblical counseling for women is called: Women Helping Women by Elyse Fitzpatrick.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner:
but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
II Timothy 1:7,8

Brethren, may we never forsake the truth of the Word of God & sacrifice it on the altar of man-centered, therapeutic, non-directive, non-judgmental counseling that plays into the sin nature rather than confronting & warning the sinner to genuine repentance. I highly recommend that you listen to listen to Ray Comfort's great teaching on biblical evangelism http://www.livingwaters.com/learn/hellsbestkeptsecret.htm & true & false conversion: http://www.livingwaters.com/learn/trueandfalse.htm Go to: http://www.calvarychapelfreegift.com/quotes.shtml & take time to read the powerful quotes from great men of God regarding the proper use of the Law (using the law lawfully) http://www.calvarychapelfreegift.com/quotes.shtml Share these resources with your local pregnancy centers & pass them along to your pastor so that he will be more biblical & faithful in his preaching.

If any of you has a desire to argue with me about these biblical assertions about the harm & shame done to the Name of Christ & to women & babies through the vast majority of modern post-abortion support counseling offered today, I beg you to seek the scriptures to see if what I have written be true. It is not so much what I say or what you say or what Dr so & so says, it is what God says that is the final authority. Let each of you be convinced in your own mind by the study of the Holy Bible. Jesus is often seen as the gentle teacher who never spoke of the seriousness of sin but only spoke of grace. May I humbly remind you that Christ is the One who said:
" except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." Luke 13:3,5 (see also Matt 3:2; 4:17; Mark 1:15)
(For a excellent biblical treatise on The Doctrine of True Repentance read Thomas Watson: http://www.fivesolas.com/watson/repent1.htm)
"And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: " (Mark 9:47, Matt 5:29; 18:9)

Let us be like our Savior & trust His Word to do the great work of bringing proper fear of the Lord & conviction of sin & salvation of souls. Let us oppose the deceit of religious humanism & its inherent heresies of universalism (see http://www.banneroftruth.org/pages/articles/article_detail.php?439) & antinomianism (listen to this MP3 teaching by RC Sproul on antinomianism at: http://www.monergism.com/directory/link_in_frame.php?link=26848)

To God be the glory!

He who lets another sin & holds his peace is a manslayer.
~ Thomas Watson

"People will never set their faces decidedly towards heaven, and live like pilgrims, until they really feel that they are in danger of hell ... Let us expound and beat out the Ten Commandments, and show the length, and breadth, and depth, and height of their requirements. This is the way of our Lord in the Sermon on the Mount. We cannot do better than follow His plan. We may depend on it, men will never come to Jesus, and stay with Jesus, and live for Jesus, unless they really know why they are to come, and what is their need. Those whom the Spirit draws to Jesus are those who the Spirit has convinced of sin. Without thorough conviction of sin, men may seem to come to Jesus and follow Him for a season, but they will soon fall away and return to the world."

Is Sarah Palin a true Christian?
Does she really believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ? Can she pass the Jesus Test?

Take the Jesus Test to find out if you are a true Christian at http://www.sentforlife.com/jesus.html

Thanks for posting, Dave. The message from Jesus is 'Unless you repent, you will perish' have you confessed & forsaken your sin & trusted in Christ, friend? Glad to know that you place a premium on 'the least of these'. The imperiled orphans in the womb deserve our pity & our compassion, that's for sure. Jesus said that unless we become like a little child we cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven . Makes you think, doesn't it, man?

Hi Dave. It's great to hear from you. I'd like to recommend a biblical treatise of "The Beatitudes" by Thomas Watson. You can read it online at:
