Mark Andrews reporting:
At least two babies were spared a gruesome execution today as the Holy Spirit honored our prayers by moving on the hearts of two moms, persuading them to leave the killing place without having the procedure done. One couple turned around on the porch and left without even going through the front door after considering Jo's plea.

When I got to the crowded parking lot (as many as 25 cars eventually came and went) at the bottom of the hill, I saw a mother screaming at her daughter to get out of the car. Clearly, she didn't want to. After about 15 minutes, the weeping, pregnant teenager got out of the car with her boyfriend and slowly walked up the hill. "Would you consider adoption as an alternative?" I asked the trio. "No," the stern-faced mother replied. "It's [abortion is] better than welfare. How's that for an alternative?" "There's no shame in welfare," I told her. "It's better than murder. I have information here on how to find a caring family for your grandchild."

A bit later, the boyfriend of an attractive young blonde woman got in my face and said, "Don't you know these women are under a lot of stress? This is a painful decision for them. What gives you the right [to admonish them]? Many of them have explored adoption and been turned down." Which I doubt. I told him that guilt from an abortion leaves many women with a lifetime of emotional scars. And, I said, when my wife was about 26, she knew a woman who had to have a hysterectomy because of a botched abortion. The killing of her first child condemned her to a life of childlessness.

As another woman walked up the hill from the parking lot, she said, "Let those who are without sin cast the first stone." "No one is casting any stones", I told her. "We're offering the alternative of life for your baby."

Jo wept as she walked down the hill to talk to me. "I almost had one," she said. "But her boyfriend grabbed her by the arm and pulled her inside."

A few minutes later, however, Jo prayed that another couple would not go inside the building. Then she told them, "Please don't go in there. I had a friend who went in [another abortion clinic], and after that, she couldn't have any children." The young man turned to his girlfriend and said, "Let's don't go in." She hesitated a bit, then nodded and they both left.

Shortly thereafter, the girl whose mother had yelled at her to "get your [behind]" into the killing place came outside smiling. We asked if she had changed her mind, and she said "Yes". Mom was furious and drove off without her daughter, returning a short time later, but they still weren't speaking to each other. The young couple accepted Doug's offer to pray with them and took his ministry packet plus information I had on an adoption service and free diagnostic care.

Dear Friends,
What a joy to see how the Lord is using Mark & his wife Jo to reach out to the abortion-bound moms with love, compassion & faith. Praise God for Doug, who was there to be a witness for the Savior as well. Mark let me know that he was not sure when he would be able to return to the clinic because he is going out of town for work for an extended period of time. If you are willing to consider ministering on Sunday, or any other of the abortion days at Orlando Women's Center, please let us know. We do not have a committed team for the times below that are in RED.

Please pray for Mary Jo & I as we begin our on-call period for the trial of Dr Nelson Kraucak today through February 20. Remember that Mary Jo is ready to deliver her little Katie Lee any day now. Pray for her as she approaches the birth of her daughter.

Together for Life & Eternity,
Patte Smith
